DICKENS ON THE DECK
DICKENS ON THE DECK

DICKENS ON THE DECK
the 2021 holiday season StageNorth theater of Washburn, Wisconsin produced a live outdoor production titled Dickens On The Deck.
An abridged version of Charles Dickens classic play, A Christmas Carol. Adapted by Howard Dallin and John Thomas. Theater patrons were invited to watch the performance for free, from the comfort of their vehicles much like a drive-in movie theater. As actors braved the negative temperatures of lake Superior, members of the community listened from their car radios or by the heat of a roaring fire.
Dickens On The Deck was an idea born after theater owner John Thomas preposed a traditional outdoor holiday play. Unfortunately politics and the thought of such a daunting task kept this show on its shelf for over a decade. Fortunately local Ashland Director Victorio Tecumseh Salas was more than ready for this challenge. With the help of his producers, Savannah artists Yolanda Morris & Rebecca Weinel. Dickens On the Deck was completed in one month and is praised throughout the community as a success.
Dickens on the Deck will return next holiday season.
